Howie DiSavino III set to embrace ARCA superspeedway debut

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla: ARCA Menards Series driver Howie DiSavino III is kicking off the 2021 season by taking his next major leap in his Motorsports career by tackling the high banks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway for this weekend’s annual pre-season test.

DiSavino III has been steadily ramping up his resume and aggressively moving through the ladder of different tracks and scenery – but preparing for his superspeedway debut next month at the “World Center of Racing” is the opportunity of a lifetime.

“This is an awesome way to start 2021,” said DiSavino who will pilot the No. 32 Chevrolet.

“Every racer dreams for the chance to compete at Daytona and the test this weekend is the stepping stone to making that dream a reality. I can’t wait to get on the track Friday.”

To kick off the 2021 ARCA season, DiSavino continues his relationship with Win-Tron Racing and crew chief Jamie Jones, but during the offseason – Win-Tron Racing was absorbed under the AM Racing banner which offers the opportunity for both organizations to expand their horizons.

Still housed at their Statesville, N.C. facility, AM Racing also fields a full-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series team – a path that DiSavino would eventually like to follow.

But before tackling the aspirations of becoming a NASCAR driver, the Chesterfield, Va. native is focused on Daytona.

“It’s a head down, fin-up type of weekend,” added DiSavino. “I think the time will go by fast, but we have a lot to accomplish. I’m sure it will take a couple of laps to get comfortable – but from there it’s about making our car as fast as we can. Some changes will work, some changes won’t – but that’s all a part of the experience.”

Throughout the two-day session, DiSavino will also be able to lean on driver coach and mentor Austin Theriault, a former Daytona ARCA winner.

“To have Austin be an ear this weekend is huge for my development,” DiSavino said. “Austin has been there through the trials and tribulations and having the opportunity to dissect the track time with him will only help me improve between the test and the race.”

Preparing to make his sixth career ARCA Menards Series start next month in the season-opening Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire, DiSavino knows he’ll have the equipment to contend for the victory.

“We’re testing this weekend to put us in a position to win the race next month,” sounded DiSavino. “Kevin (Cywinski, team owner) and Jamie (Jones, crew chief) have a knack for putting together extremely fast superspeedway cars, and I don’t expect 2021 to be any different.

“I know a lot of the race can boil down to luck, but hopefully we can just be in the right place at the right time and start the year with a strong finish and a lot of momentum.”

Front Runner Boats and Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning will support DiSavino in 2021.

Additional details on DiSavino’s 2021 program is forthcoming.

About Front Runner Boats:

Front Runner as defined by Meriam Webster is “a contestant who runs best in the lead.” Indeed, this defines the vision of Front Runner Boats’ founders, two fishing buddies and business partners who saw an opportunity to build the boats they enjoyed, but with their own ideas on how to build them better!

There are plenty of big, beautiful, boats on the market, but none that came up to the standards Mark and Phil had set for themselves. Standards that today’s boat builders have never seen. Standards that only people that take the sport of blue water fishing seriously will appreciate.

If you’ve always dreamed of having everything you wanted in a boat, it’s time for Front Runner Boats.

Howie DiSavino III applying lessons learned in ARCA Menards Series West season finale

AVONDALE, Ariz.: For ARCA Menards Series rookie driver Howie DiSavino III, 2020 has been anything but normal.

In January, the Win-Tron Racing development driver had a concrete schedule in ARCA and a limited schedule in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series.

Less than a week after competing in the ARCA Menards Series race at Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway in early March, the world was sent into a blender from the Coronavirus pandemic. Steadily, things returned to a new normal – including the world of Motorsports.

Everyone in the racing scene was impacted by the pandemic with DiSavino and team having to go back to the drawing board and recreate a schedule that benefitted everyone since practice and qualifying had been eliminated from much of the remainder of the season.

With the Truck Series plans on idle, the focus centered on ARCA and the No. 32 KEES Travel | Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning Chevrolet. In his series’ return at Lucas Oil Raceway on July 3, he earned a career-best ninth-place finish

The Chesterfield, Va. native hasn’t competed in an ARCA Menards Series race since Iowa Speedway this summer, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been busy.

Whether it be studying film, testing an ARCA car at various short tracks, competing in Late Model races in the Midwest, DiSavino has stayed busy preparing for Saturday afternoon’s Arizona Lottery 100.

Set to compete in his fourth ARCA Menards Series race of the year and armed with the experience of veteran crew chief Jamie Jones, DiSavino returns to the desert hoping to end the season with a career-best ARCA finish.

“We’ve come a long way in a little over a year,” said DiSavino. “I’m humbled to have the opportunity to chase my dreams and have so many people behind me, helping me be successful. Kevin (Cywinski, team owner) and Jamie (Jones) with Win-Tron Racing, Austin (Theriault) and JR (Longley) with PMG and Joey Coulter have all helped and sped up my learning curve.

“I’m ready to tackle Phoenix this weekend, but I am also extremely excited about what next year will bring. We have great partners that have followed me and I’m excited about moving up next year with their support.”

Luckily for the 19-year-old driver, he returns to Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway with the benefit of plenty of track time. Something he has missed since returning to Motorsports post-pandemic lockdown.

In March, he qualified 16th and quickly raced inside the top-10 before being swept into a late-race accident, not of his making. While the finish left more to be desired, DiSavino and Jones return to the 1.0-mile track looking to finish what they started eight months ago.

“We made great strides at Phoenix in March, so I’m looking forward to going back to Phoenix and earning that top-10 finish that was taken away from us,” added DiSavino.

“Jamie (Jones) really made some great changes to the car and it showed with our pace. With the race expected to be even more competitive than the spring, I think we have the opportunity to showcase a lot with our Win-Tron Racing team on Saturday.”

You talk about being surrounded by veterans, DiSavino has that covered.

Whether it’s team owner Kevin Cywinski on the grounds, crew chief Jamie Jones calling the shots as crew chief, guiding DiSavino from up above is Joey Coulter.

A former ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series winner, Coulter’s guidance as his spotter has proven to be equally as beneficial this season.

“Joey is great at keeping me calm and focused behind the wheel,” sounded DiSavino. “Of course, Jamie is on the radio with us, but Joey is that extra set of eyes and laying a foundation to help make me a better driver.

“Whether it’s cheerleading one lap, to criticism the next – we’re going in the right direction and a strong performance on Saturday will give us that added boost of confidence heading into the offseason and preparing for next year.”

Of course, DiSavino isn’t just getting support and confidence from his team, his marketing partners have been pivotal in rolling with the punches of 2020 all while looking ahead to an aggressive 2021 schedule.

“For Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning, joining the HDIII racing team through a sponsorship opportunity, has been everything we could hope for,” said Rob Nelson, president of Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning.

“The closeness and comradery with Howie, his dad and all the others involved just feels like we are a part of an organization that cares about its partners. They’re focused on creating and exploiting every possible opportunity for the betterment of the sponsors in concert with the true star of the show, Howie DiSavino III.

“We wish the team a lot of luck this weekend at Phoenix.”

Win-Tron Racing team owner Kevin Cywinski says DiSavino has grown as a driver despite the hurdles 2020 presented.

“2020 hasn’t gone according to plan, but we’ve adjusted to a pace that was comfortable with Howie and I think we’ve met our objectives. We’ve focused on a lot of tasks off the track which he has excelled at and it should prove to be beneficial at Phoenix this weekend with our on-track performance in the No. 32 KEES Travel | Bud’s Heating & Air Conditioning Chevrolet.”

Howie DiSavino Prepares for Sizzling Summer Starting in Indianapolis

MOORESVILLE, NC (June 30, 2020) – It has been months overdue, but Howie DiSavino III is finally climbing behind the wheel again this weekend in the ARCA Menards Series at Lucas Oil Raceway. It will be the Virginia driver’s first return visit to a track with WinTron Racing and his second ARCA start of 2020.

A year ago, DiSavino made his second career ARCA start at the .686-mile oval west of Indianapolis in the WinTron Racing No. 32 Chevrolet. After qualifying in the top ten and running well in the race, an electrical gremlin hindered the team prior to the finish and relegated the rookie driver to a 16th place finish. Since graduating from weekly racing in Virginia, DiSavino has made two total starts at LOR, including a pro late model start prior to his ARCA run.

“I feel really good going back to a place that I have raced before,” said DiSavino. “I feel like it will be a great race for us because I’ve got experience there after being out of the seat for so long. I’m ready to get back behind the wheel and going back racing again.”

For DiSavino, the latest changes in the sporting world due to the coronoavirus pandemic have allowed some positive shifts for his racing career. As races have moved and adjusted dates, so have his plans to compete. Following the ARCA race in Indianapolis, DiSavino will be competing in the ARCA Menards Series at Iowa on July 18, Kansas on July 24, plus tackling a handful of NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races later this year.

“Everything has changed, for sure,” the driver of the Kees Travel / Bud’s Plumbing Chevrolet admitted. “Our race schedule, our plans for the year, everything has shifted. It seems like we’re going week to week to figure out what we are doing, but I have been working out and doing whatever needs to get done in my downtime. Even with reduced track time and practice for these ARCA races, I feel like we’ll still have the same end result. My WinTron team will give me a great car and we’ll go out and try to make the most of it.”

The ARCA Menards Series Calypso Lemonade 200 runs Friday night, July 3, at 8pm ET and can be seen LIVE through cable and satellite network MAVTV. A limited number of tickets are available through either ARCA’s website or the facility website, and additional event coverage can be found on ARCARacing.com

DiSavino to Drive for Win-Tron Racing in NASCAR’s Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series

CONCORD, NC (January 21, 2020) – It’s about to get busy for Howie DiSavino, III, in 2020. After several starts with Mooresville, N.C.-based Win-Tron Racing in 2019, the team is announcing DiSavino is signing on to pilot the team’s NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series (NGOTS) entry. DiSavino’s truck series debut will be at Richmond Raceway, his home track, on Saturday, April 18, 2020, as well as, other select NGOTS and ARCA Menards Series races. The deal will also feature two new Virginia-based partners for DiSavino, KEES Travel™ and Bud’s Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electric.

“Everyone at Win-Tron Racing is very excited to have Howie back behind the wheel. From the time he first jumped in the #32 ARCA car at Elko, MN, we could see that Howie is a smart and intelligent driver. He is a quick learner and a respectful young man with a huge future in front of him. We are proud to be a part of that future. Howie is a rising star, and we are truly looking forward to working with him and his partners again!” said Kevin Cywinsky, owner of Win-Tron Racing and former American Speed Association Champion.

Having local partners join on for the season makes DiSavino’s debut even more special, “It feels amazing to show pride in my Virginia partnerships and show racing fans what KEES Travel™ and Bud’s Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electric have to offer. My partners have made my dream a reality, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate them.”

“It also means the world to me to be able to make my NASCAR debut in my hometown at Richmond Raceway. I started racing at Southside Speedway and Dominion. Through all of those races, I knew it was my dream to make it to NASCAR. Now it’s starting to sink in. I’m especially thankful for the support of my family. I know I’ll be making them proud,” said DiSavino of his NASCAR opportunity.

On the ARCA front, DiSavino has set a goal of top-10 finishes and sees the truck starts as a way to hone his skills and continue to learn about racing in NASCAR’s higher-level series. He knows that working with a team he already has a relationship with will help him in his transition, “I love the guys at Win-Tron and the way we work together. It will be a great year running with them on the ARCA side and the truck side. Working with PMG and Win-Tron, I have learned so much, and I want to continue to keep learning with them behind me.”

During the off-season, DiSavino has been busy keeping his skills sharp through simulation racing and staying active in the gym to be physically ready for this new level of racing. Yet, he views his biggest work as fostering relationships with new partners, who will be able to experience a new level of exposure and access to a larger group of potential customers.

“I couldn’t be happier with the new partnership with Howie DiSavino, III, and the opportunities surrounding the relationship. There are few things more important to our company than the KEES brand. We feel Howie represents that brand and our values well,” said Jeremy Grogg, RRP, CHA, President of KEES Vacations.

Robert W. Nelson, Owner/CEO of Bud’s Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electric echoed Grogg’s excitement on the new partnership with DiSavino, “When the option to partner with HDIII Racing became available, it was a no-brainer. Anytime I have the opportunity to get my people excited and demonstrate pride in my company and its direction with community involvement, I’m doing it. It’s great to be sharing support for HDIII Racing within other top-notch companies. I’ve known the DiSavino family for 2 decades and hold them in the highest regard. Howie is a shining example of focus and drive. It’s refreshing to see these qualities in a person his age. 2020 is going to be a great year for everyone involved.”

With a seat on a competitive team and dedicated partners, DiSavino is set to make an impact in the 2020 racing season but is keeping his definition of success simple, “A successful season is just to compete with the racers up front and to come home with the car or truck in one piece. I strongly believe we will have a great season with my team, partners and family. I want to focus on getting better and learning, my ultimate measure of success in 2020.”

Before getting behind the wheel of the truck, DiSavino’s first race will be in Win-Tron’s No. 32 ARCA Menards Series entry at Phoenix International Raceway (Avondale, Az.) on March 6.

About Howie DiSavino, III

A pair of free tickets. That’s what started Howie DiSavino’s love for racing at the age of 8. After his dad took him to an Arena Racing show in the Richmond, Virginia area with those tickets, young Howie begged his family for a racecar.

Finally, at age 13, Howie got his wish. He and his family spent a couple years racing the arena circuit before making the jump to full-fledged late models just two years later. Since then, he has grown as a driver and a person, contributing to his race team and his community utilizing racing as an avenue for charitable giving while also building relationships with his partners and supporters.

In 2019, Howie took another step toward his NASCAR dreams, making his ARCA debut with WinTron Racing at Elko Speedway in Minnesota. 2020 looks to be a promising year as this skilled, young driver makes his NASCAR debut in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. Howie DiSavino, III Readies for Second Career ARCA Start at Lucas Oil Raceway

MOORESVILLE, NC (Sept. 25, 2019) — After an eye-opening and thrilling outing at Elko Speedway in July, Howie DiSavino III is climbing back behind the wheel of a Win-Tron Racing Chevrolet this weekend at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. The start will be his second in the ARCA Menards Series, both of which will come on a pair of the most difficult short tracks the tour visits.

In July, DiSavino made the jump from late model stock cars to the higher-horsepower, slightly heavier ARCA machines under the guidance of car owner Kevin Cywinski and crew chief Jamie Jones. Elko Speedway was the site of his first national-level start, where he completed each of the 250 laps and captured a top ten finish, a strong accomplishment for any rookie making the jump to a national level series.

“We are really excited to have Howie back in the No. 32 Chevy at LOR,” said car owner Cywinski. “In his ARCA debut at Elko, earlier this year, he brought home an impressive top 10 finish. That was something we were all proud of for him. He has been working hard, getting as much seat time as he can since that race. I expect this to be a very successful event for Howie and the whole Win-Tron Racing team. We have raised our goals and have every expectation of achieving them with him.”

Some of the additional seat time DiSavino has been acquiring came at the unique .686-mile layout at LOR just two weeks ago. Racing a pro late model for Willie Allen Racing, DiSavino started the 100-lap event in third and raced amongst the top five until mechanical issues hampered the effort of the Mass Mutual of Richmond team. Despite the issues, he still recorded a 12th place finish.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing how the ARCA car goes around the track at LOR because it’s so much heavier and has more horsepower than the pro late model does,” DiSavino said in regards to the upcoming race. “We ran good and were up front all race, and I feel like we should have a good race there in the ARCA car. The biggest challenge will be to save tires and to avoid the wall because the groove is up high next to the wall. I’ve never raced anywhere like this, but I’m really looking forward to getting another opportunity to race there with Win-Tron.”

The ARCA race will expose second-time starter DiSavino not only to more power around the flat layout, but also more laps. Unlike his late model race where 100 laps was the scheduled distance, the ARCA Menards Series event will be contested over 200 circuits, with live pit stops, on national television.

Practice for the Herr’s Potato Chips 200 commences at 2pm ET on Saturday, October 5. Qualifying hits the track at 5pm with the green flag scheduled to fly at 8pm ET. MAVtv will carry the race live on their cable and satellite network while additional coverage can be found on the series website at ARCAracing.com.
